Home to Rick Stein’s eponymous restaurant and one of the most photographed harbours in the world, this Cornish town has a lot to celebrate. The festival proudly hosts visitors from around the UK who are intrigued and excited about Cornwall’s exquisite food and music offering. The event kicks off with the inaugural Porthleven Food Awards on Friday night, followed by music from headliner The Jar Family. If you fancy yourself as the next champion for the Great British Bake Off then get baking to compete in the Mad Hatter Tea Party themed bake off on Sunday, April 17. The local WI group will be involved in the competition, which will end with a prize-giving for the best bakes, just before the art auction and start of Sunday’s music extravaganza at 3pm. Sunday’s headliner is British Reggae band Shanty. The festival plays host to local and national bands and international, respected music stars from classic and country genres to folk and reggae. Local bands confirmed to perform this year include Samba Celtica, Porthleven Town Band and the Cadgwith singers. Saturday’s headliner is The Mad Cows. Organisers have also been working with Porthleven Primary School to create a spectacular firework display on the Saturday night from 9pm. In addition to showcasing Cornwall’s food and drink delights, Porthleven Food Festival will also be featuring a photography exhibition, celebrating ten years of the Masked Ball and a Literary Festival for book lovers.
