The event is organised by Cornwall Sports Partnership (CSP), Totally Truro BID and Truro City Council and has once again teamed up with the national This Girl Can campaign run by Sport England which is designed to help inspire women and girls to get moving, regardless of shape, size and ability. The event will focus on promoting women in fitness with many sports providers giving away free taster sessions as a follow up to the event. Natasha Howard, event organiser from Cornwall Sports Partnership, said: “Following last year’s great response to this special two-day event, we are delighted to bring it back to Truro again. “This is a great opportunity for females to be inspired and find out where they can get active linking in with the national This Girl Can campaign.” As part of Cornwall Sports Partnership’s ongoing initiative they have recently launched #thisgirlcan Cornish Girls. A profile of seven normal women from Cornwall who are fitting exercise into their busy daily lives to achieve their own personal goals. Cornwall Sports Partnership are on the look-out for a representative from the Truro area to join the ambassadors. “It is a wonderful opportunity to share your story and inspire other women to achieve goals in their own lives,” Natasha said. “We would love to hear your story, whether you are a busy mum who has just run the London marathon or a lady who has found new friendships through sport, we would love to hear your story.” The CSP team will be on the quay so pop along and meet them to talk about your #thisgirlcan story. Activities to see and try take place from 10am to 4pm each day, and will include judo demonstrations, Belly Bolly taster workshops, table tennis, cricket, netball, golf, badminton and more. Cornwall BMX will also be on hand with some of their female riders to talk about how to get the most out of this popular extreme sport.
