It is a tasty treat, the bubbles are good and consistent and it’s a refined fizz. Elegant and classy, not flirty and forgettable. Nice flavours too, with a touch of stone fruit and lots of citrus. A nice one for Christmas morning. Verdict: Nice taste, tingles on the tongue San Leo Prosecco Brut (£10.99, but £7.99 until December 26, Waitrose This had delightful, gentle aromas, of apples, pears and citrus. They are the classic fruit notes you’d expect from a prosecco, but this lacked a sugar-syrupy manufactured edge that I find in lots of proseccos. The bubbles stay in the glass longer than most, as if they’re happy with the world and want to be part of the festive fun. Taste the Difference Prosecco DOCG Conegliano, £10, Sainsbury’s This is one of my lowest scorers for the DOCG style and I’m surprised as normally this wine is one of my must-recommends.
