David Rotherham and Rick Smith launched Star Parties on Friday morning and received bookings via Facebook immediately. David told What’s On: “Girls have princess parties and Frozen parties but you don’t often see party services specifically for boys.I had the idea when I was on holiday in America last year on the run-up to the release of The Force Awakens. Kids were meeting Darth Vader at Disneyland and having lightsaber battles and I thought, this would work in a birthday format.” David, who already has success as a children’s entertainer Coz The Clown, decided he need another “Star Wars nerd” to make his dream come true. Step forward Rick, who does all the photography for David’s clown business. Luckily, Rick happened to have a stormtrooper costume. So if you book Star Parties what can you expect? As the children arrive they are met by a real-life stormtrooper and shown into the party where a Jedi Master will introduce some Star Wars-themed party games, including Pass The Wookie and Star Wars musical chairs, where you can pose like your favourite characters when the music stops. Partygoers will learn all about The Force and are taught lightsaber skills before they individually battle their favourite villain … Darth Vader or Kylo Ren. The birthday boy or girl will then be presented with their very own lightsaber, each child will have a professional photo taken with their villain of choice and the parents will be sent a memory stick full of photos taken on the special day. David and Rick provide everything needed for the Star Wars-loving child (or adult) in your life lights, music, sound effects, smoke, prizes, sweets, balloons (David is an expert balloon modeller) and more.
